Dhanteras Puja Vidhi

Puja Samagri

  • One Deepak/Diya made of flour dough with 4 wicks
  • Coins
  • Sacred Water and a Spoon
  • Aasan to be seated on
  • Cloth for aasan
  • Sweets
  • Kheel ,Batasha
  • Dhoop, Dhoopdaan
  • Wicks, Oil/Ghee and Matchbox
  • A Shell with a hole
  • Flowers,
  • Rice, Roli, Chandan 

 

Note : Apart from the normal puja items used for worship, you will require a diya made of wheat dough which will act as the Yamadeep.

 

Puja Vidhi

  • Dhanteras puja is done in the evening after sighting the stars. 
  • Place a wooden platform and draw the symbol of Swastik in rangoli. In the middle of the Swastik, place a dough diya with four wicks. Make a hole in a cowry shell, place it on the lamp and light the lamp with oil or ghee. This is also called as Yamadeep or the lamp dedicated to Yamraj, the god of death and to pay respect to the ancestors of the family.
  • Chant Dhanvantri mantra 108 times and offer worship and flowers to Dhanvantri.
  • Dhanvantri mantra “Aum dhan dhanvatarey namah”.

·        Diwali (Dīvali, Dīpāwali, Deepavali, Dipabali) is a festival of lights symbolizing the victory of righteousness and the lifting of spiritual darkness.  The word “Deepawali” refers to rows of diyas, or clay lamps. This is one of the most popular festivals in the Hindu calendar.

Puja Samagri

  • One Roli
  • Some Akshat which is raw full grain rice
  • One Puja ki Thali
  • One Flower Garland
  • Few Dhoop sticks
  • Some Scent
  • A Photo or an Idol of Goddess Lakshmi with Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati
  • A big piece of Red cloth
  • A small Chawki
  • Some Supari
  • Some Coriander seeds
  • Some Cotton seeds
  • Some Lotus Flower Seeds
  • Some Dry whole Turmeric
  • One Silver coin
  • Few Sweets
  • Some currency notes of any denomination

Puja Vidhi

  • First you need to assemble all the articles in one place.
  • Next you need to place the chawki where you normally perform your puja. You then need to spread the red cloth over it.
  • Then you need to place the Photo or an Idol of Goddess Lakshmi with Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati.
  • Then you need to place three heaps of the raw rice in front of the photo or the idol.
  • Then you need to light a lamp and start the puja. Once the puja is done, the flame of the lamp should not be extinguished. This lamp should be lit overnight. You also need to lit dhoop sticks with it.
  • Then you need to put tilak of akshat and roli on the forehead of Lord Ganesha.
  • Then you need to start the Lakshmi Puja. You need to put a tilak of rice and roli on the forehead of Goddess Lakshmi.
  • Then you need to pray to Lord Vishnu, Lord Kuber and Lord Indra to arrive along with Goddess Lakshmi. This will bring wealth and prosperity to the house.
  • Then you need to worship Goddess Saraswati. You need to put tilak and akshat on the forehead of Goddess Saraswati.
  • The last part will be the Lakshmi Arti.

Govardhan Puja

Govardhan Puja occurs on the first lunar day of Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Kartika. It falls next day after Diwali and is the fourth day of the five-day-long Diwali festival. It is celebrated as the day when Lord Krishna defeated Lord Indra. Govardhan Puja is also known as Annakoot Puja.

  • Smaal dunes from cow dung
  • Flowers
  • Food to offer 

Puja Vidhi

  • Prepare small dunes from cow dung symbolizing Lord Govardhan.
  • The dunes are decorated with flowers and then worshiped.
  • Prepare food (made with cereals such as wheat, rice, etc. and leafy vegetables) is cooked and offered to Lord Krishna.
